According to Peter Diamandis of the X-Prize foundation, four or five teams will make launch attempts within next six months. Armadillo Aerospace, according to Neil Milburn who phoned in, plans on a launch within the first quarter of 2004. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, is reputedly investing $30 million on an as-yet undisclosed passenger-carrying vehicle.

Diamandis seemed confident that the X-Prize competition should have a winner within the year.
