[TDF-2006-02] The global importance of the incoming Space Economy

"The global importance of the incoming Space Economy"
Medieval Castle of Moncrivello (VC). April 1st 2006 / 9:30 ÷ 22:00

Dear Coplanetaries,

the date of April 1st 2006 is coming near with big footsteps, and the preparation of the 1st International Convention of Technologies of the Frontier obviously entered a state of bigger activity.

We have already received an enough flattering number of registrations, but we would like to reach our minimum goal if possible within the first week of March.

As you can imagine a good number of services, from food to sizing of the audio and projection equipmnents, depend on the number of participants.

Last but not least, we also need to know with enough advance the entity of the budget we can dispose.

Then, if you aim to come, please don't wait anymore: go to this page http://www.tdf.it/IC1/TDF_IC1_Home.htm , then to the registration form http://www.tdf.it/IC1/TDF_IC1_Registration.htm and register yourself!

Then, once registered, don't forget to pay the registration fee (by one of the indicated ways). It is in fact of great relevance for us to have the economic budget usable as soon as possible!

           ---------------------------------------------

Different recent events have completely upset the perspective of the human expansion into space. Some tragic ones: as the loss of the second shuttle and it's whole crew, the crisis of the spendable rockets, followed to the crisis of the telecommunications. And other very positive events, as the entry of China in the narrow astronautic club, and the enterprise of SpaceShipOne, of Scaled Composites and SpaceDev, that won the X-Prize in the autumn 2004. Everything happens in a frame of great instability and uncertainty: war conflicts and terrorism, in the background of the bloody and long decline of the oil energetic thread, the push of the emergent countries, conditioned by the awareness of the "reserve" state of the resources and of the environmental patrimony of our mother planet; the long lasting stagnation of the globalized economy, up to today incapable to reproduce strong industrial development lines, comparable to automtive and to the great transport systems of the last century.

The perspective of space tourism, of the geo-lunar space industrialization, and the birth of a true space-economy, with the private enterprises as protagonist, it is no more science fiction, but something that will move first meaningful footsteps in the turn of five or ten years, starting with the sub-orbital flights for civil passengers. The opening challenges are enormous, first of all the one to conceive and to build sub-orbital and orbital vehicles for the transport of civil passengers: as to pass from the current expensive shuttle - a military conceived vehicle, comparable to a B52 - to a space "Airbus 380"!

A formidable perspective, for the relaunching and the development of the space industries and economical activities. A revolution that will outclass the first industrial revolution, and that will bring the world economy to an unprecedented development.

A new awareness is more and more coming to light: it will be the Space, that will provide the new industrial development lines, the new energy sources, and a horizon of open development. It will be Astronautics that will guarantee the economic and civil growth, in full liberty, for at least a millennium. Technologies of the Frontier, that follows since a long time the "pregnancy" of this process, today proposes to the firms, to the academic world, and to all the true astronauts in their spirit, a first moment of open discussion, to detect grounds of activity and collaboration.

Aim high!
Adriano Autino
