Space Future has been on something of a hiatus of late. With the concept of Space Tourism steadily increasing in acceptance, and the advances of commercial space, much of our purpose could be said to be achieved. But this industry is still nascent, and there's much to do. So...watch this space.

Space Adventures doubles number of spaceflight participants
The Space Adventures orbital spaceflight program is the only way for non-astronauts to visit the International Space Station ( ISS). Now, Space Adventures had brokered a deal that increases the number of spaceflight participants.

New location, new theme, same great ideas
Technologies of the Frontier (TDF), an Italian space advocacy group, is holding their second conference on June 7, 2008 in Belgirate on Lake Maggiore, Italy. Speakers include astronomers and professors, and lectures will be held in both Italian and English.

EADS branches out into space
European aerospace company EADS Astrium, a branch of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, has announced it will be developing a 1-stage, 4-person spaceplane. Flights should achieve 3 minutes of weightlessness and could be available in 2012.

Trying to amend the E.U. constitution
Space Future's Dr. Patrick Collins and Technologies of the Frontier's Adriano Autino have created an initiative to amend the European Union Constitution. As a draft, the wording of the initiative may change, but the meaning will remain: a plea to the E.U. nations to give its citizens the right to travel to space.

Is the first female tourist far behind?
According to the below press release, a Japanese entrepreneur will be heading toward the International Space Station some time in September; no word on the exact date. A woman, Anousheh Ansari, has joined the backup crew. There is also no news on if she will be traveling in her own right at a later time.
